I got the PANYyRAID tracks from Marty Lee, as we have been in contact for some time.
I played the Beba track, but I also jacked the sample and weaved it throughout my set as well as cracking out loops and samples from hundreds of different tracks. I slice the shit out of everything that I get and I get a lot of pre-releases from many producers, as I have long (20 year) history of being trusted with unreleased material.
I have a bunch of alternate mixes of tracks that Marty gave me, as well as I have chopped up a bunch of his stuff and made my own remixes. I am going to send them too him once I find the time. I've been following his musical blogs for an age.
I think Martyparty is the most interesting electronic music producer working in North America right now and the project with Ooah is the dopeness. Ooah, in my opinion, is not only a great guy, but has his finger on the pulse of all things krunky and during the short time we spent together traveling to and from a couple of festivals that we were both booked at and his visits to my home town, where we have shared some moments: he has been a huge influence in how I play and arrange my music and sets.
If you ask how I got tracks and who I am... in a nut shell: I got them because it is my job and I have been DJing for almost 20 years, 141 festivals I have been involved in production, hundreds upon hundreds of dj gigs in 37 countries, I played at Shambles for 6 years before they cut me because I asked for fair performers fee, I started Native State Records with Evan Bluetech, toured with many of the worlds top producers, co-produced 39 released tracks under different names, compiled 19 different compilation albums for 13 different record labels, worked as a booking agent for a spell and I had a Divine Moment of Truth in Simon Posford's studio while they were making the first Shpongle album which is where I was given the tag Ronin. In a nut shell: I have nothing better to do than chase phat tracks to play in front of sane people in order to make them crazy... what can I say? I get off on it.
I've retired from all things except DJing, producing and programming compilations and musical line ups for festivals.
That's who I am. I aint famous, just infamous and I do live across the 49th parallel and don't like crossing the line to Babylon, so unless you make your way up here: you and I probably won't meet, but I hope you do so we can hang out, listen to Marty's beats and sing his praises.
BeBa ya'll
Steve... aka Ronin
