My thoughts on the festival.

I would have to say I really enjoyed my experience.

As we arrived on the border of Canada we were greeted by border patrol. They were brash and somewhat rude. But after pulling out all our stuff we finally arrived at the festival at 5 in the morning Thursday. I was really bummed to hear anyone who did not arrive before 8:30 had to pay the 40 extra dollars. Maybe you should put that on your ticket. Cuz from what I understand midnight is when wed ends and thursday begins. well atleast in America. well next time ill be putting the word out to others of this deed. Then we could not even go in until 8:30. I can understand not letting people in at dark but when light comes it would be nice to get in.
I was shocked to see the consumerism that littered the festival. i would have to say how sad that capitalism rules this festival. and its very expensive.
The river ruled I loved it so much. Having the music next to the river was quite nice to. I wasnt to impressed with the music. i thought the selection chose to move more towards dubstep and not alot of techno. I saw some crappy djs who couldnt spin for shiat. its to bad that you pay alot of money to see mediocre material. I saw djs who had others put records on for them and alot of beat mismatching. I saw djs who couldnt mix there own records and those who stopped between each record and started another.
I would say the best thing was the people. So many nice people talking and socializing it was a nice change from burning man where many are ungrateful and elitist.
All and all I cannot wait to go back. but I would like to bring some djs from Portland and show you all what we can do on the pacific northwest. I enjoyed the storms.

okay, i'll start!

the labyrinth, hands down! i thought stacy did a most excellent excellent job taking over management and working with everyone with such calmness, skill, vision, diplomacy, and just generally being such a pleasant person to be around! The main crew robert and gary and others busted their asses all week to create the majickal atmosphere, not to mention how much work and effort went in to decor by toni.

my favourite sets took place at the labyrinth: ahkentek's headlining set saturday night was friggin' incredible! the whole place was going off! that whole night was fantastic, right from sasquatch to jay michael, solar, akhentek, and blue lunar monkey. the mexican influence was a very nice flavour! adham's 3 hour set sunday night equally stellar, sandwiched by a 3 hour cheb i set and ganga giri. brad and dela from moontribe followed and my biggest regret is not catching those sets.

my only complaint about the musical programming was whoever played opening the stage sunday morning. the live music and vocals were just a bit too jarring for those of us in dreamland, which at that time there were quite a few. downtempo, dub, or something chilled would have been nicer to wake up to.

i liked the community and family feel to the whole area, and i liked how it wasn't just a stage but also an encompassed an art gallery, art installations, a tripped-out forest walk, a sheesha lounge/chill zone (with djs), and many other personal contributions. i'm looking forward to next year already! especially knowing the seed of life will also be returning to that zone.

Hey friends.

I'm looking for a ride from the Spokane airport (or anywhere in spokane for that matter) on thursday the 7th to shambhala. My plane lands around 10:15am and currently my only way of transportation into Canada is my longboard. And as green and eco friendly as that is, it will be like a 9hour skate sesh there, and i'm not trying to be tired and sleep through sham. So if anyone would be able to help me out with a ride i'm more than willing to help pay for gas and what not. I'm not bringing anything of concern across the border, and i am an Canadian/American citizen so i won't have any trouble crossing the border. DJ Vadim has had to cancel his appearances at Shambles (for good reason from what I heard). This is very sad news for me as I really was looking forward to seeing him and his posse. In fact I was waivering wether or not to go and had decided on going based largely on his two sets. Oh well such is life.

I need to score a ride to Shambhala

Hey everybody,

I'm down in Berkeley and I would like to go to shambhala this summer but I need to find a ride. I didn't want to spend the $ on gas to drive solo since my partner will be on the east coast during that time. So I'm looking for a ride to Shambhala from some major town (or even a minor one with a greydog stop in it. I will definately split the costs with you and I can travel with minimal gear when necessary. I'm fully insured on my truck, have a valid CA drivers lic. and can drive stick.

I would like to hook up with a ride on the sooner side as I need to get a ticket and obviously dont want to get a ticket until I feel like I have a good chance to get a ride to the fest. If anyone has any ideas about riding to Shambhala your welcome to contact me.

i meet a few people that are mellow / but most of them have been "lala ized" / / like / that's when the universe opens / & like / the whole zen of being / you know this feeeeling / like WOW / it's just so amazing / & i just love every one too / don't you????

i think i've had it with drug cult /

people who make themselves sick

body & soul / consumed by the urge to consume which brings me back to : drugs = commerce

the festival supports it'self by being a festival the owners have taken a "grab the cash" attitude

even tho they tout it as / a family held event & how we are "all" one big happy family / the event has become money driven / it is a festival after all / with a captive audience

it seems / that every one who is allowed to make money on the event / such as vendors & even the owners themselves / taking / making outrageous amounts of cash /

i tell you / the guy who drove the helicopter over our heads a 5 times an hour / was just raking it in / plus raising yet more dust & the noise level / / / / this leads me to two trains of thot

all this would be fine / i guess / if every one had money like i did /

& a lot of people did / & spend it / they did /

the line up to the atm was a couple hours long the lines ups to the food were long / the line-up getting in was long

hell / the line ups to the shitters were long . . .

there are people who show up
& just bare lee / with little more
than the clothes on their backs / with an inadequate amount of money / which most proceed to spend on drugs

like any town / there are the hungry & others of little means / every thing there is out-priced for them /

except the drugs / which are cheap / some times free & always abundant /

it is a veritable cocktail of the dialogues of hunter s.
except / there is more dirt / more flaky ness / & just a queer feeling of / i don't know / call it unhappiness

perhaps / it's called / a lot of lost people

i hate see ing people i love & care about get so fucked up . . .

any ways / / / / glad it's over / / /

hope the "family" is glad they made a quick grab

i'm sure the dealers are all happy too

st.ill / i have to wonder if / it's real lee worth it

is a weekend of hedonistic behavior worth a week of post sham bah lala depression /

even if only 8000 people did drugs out the 10,000 there & even if only half of them get depressed / & only half of them get REAL lee depressed that's st.ill only 2000 people with depression / right???

++++ what was with the under cover cops
who only busted people from nelson . . .

& in the words of my 15 year old daughter

mommy / how do they decide which people to arrest for dealing drugs

any ways . . . .

it's not to say i had a bad time a sham bah (lala) i went to bed early / didn't real lee party / enjoyed the doing nothing ness of the days / if nothing else

it's a great exercise in people watching

& it was nice camping with my kids / who were basic lee the only normal people out there . . .

The Cariboo Dreamcatcher Collective’s main initiative is a weekend long Earth Day Gathering called Pollination. This springtime retreat is created by people coming together to share these personal strengths and talents to manifest this positive and fun event. This year marks our second annual multi- generation event, which will be held at Gavin Lake Forestry Camp, April 18-20, 2008, and begins with a First Nations blessing and drum circle, honouring the ancestors of this land. We continue with the first of five shared meals featuring delicious, fresh and healthful ingredients. An open-mic night will showcase the many talents of our guests, with live and electronic music continuing to close out the first night’s celebrations.

Saturday and Sunday feature workshops offered in a large spectrum of subjects, including yoga, natural building, body therapy demonstrations, African drumming and meditation to name a few. We host an art gallery and craft market to display the work of local and non-local artists and craftspeople. As with any celebration, music is a must, and we continue to highlight local talents and other musical guests from around the province throughout Saturday night.

The Dreamcatcher Collective is proud to be supporting and promoting culture, and wellness in the Cariboo. We invite you to share this experience with us.

I am very concerned about Codex and the implications it can have on our Canadians rights and freedom. Under Codex all nutrients and herbs are labelled as toxic and will be illegal.(as illegal as heroin) Canada is required to comply with codex by DEC.31 2009 or the WTO which implements Codex will put up trade sanctions against Canada. We must not let Codex get implemented. We need to start sending letters and getting petitions signed NOW to stop Codexs standards from being implemented here in Canada and the rest of the world. I have added a Video which outlines what we must do to stop codex. Please Help and get the Canadian public to be aware of Codex and the horrible implications it could have on our lives.
